Whether you are a seasoned traveller or not, we want to make this adventure as easy as possible for all our guests. We have included some helpful information below about everything from airport information to seasonal temperatures in June.

Airport Information

Whether you are flying from Toronto or Ottawa, your destination airport is Calgary International Airport (YYC). The main airlines servicing Calgary are Westjet, Air Canada or Air Transat.

Airport Address: 2000 Airport Rd NE, Calgary, AB T2E 6Z8

Travel within Alberta

Once you arrive in Alberta, we highly recommend a rental car to get you to the Canmore/Banff area.

Calgary Airport to Canmore: 1 hour, 20 minutes
Calgary Airport to Banff: 1 hour, 35 minutes

It is a very straightforward route along the Trans Canada HWY once you get outside of Calgary. We would recommend a portable GPS if you have one!

While the wedding and dinner reception will both be held in Banff, Alberta we are highly suggesting that guests consider Canmore as their lodging location. Due to high demand in the Banff area, prices are higher in June and hotels are almost fully booked in the area around the time of our wedding. We have made suggestions for locations on our accommodations page, but feel free to find a place of your choosing or contact us for other ideas.

We are also suggesting that our guests look into options such as AirBnb, HomeAway or VRBO to find condo lodging (mostly) at lower rates. Some are in the same buildings we have recommended on our accommodations page.

Weather in Alberta

The weather in Alberta can be very unpredictable all year round! It has been known to snow in June (Jon has experienced this first-hand), so we want to make sure you are well prepared for your stay.

Average High: 18.7
Average Low: 5.4

June is the rainiest month in Alberta (average of 58.4mm of rain), however, it is the month with the most daylight hours, so expect 16.5 hours of beautiful mountain time!

Due to the potential of colder temperatures (or snow), we highly recommend you bring layers and a variety of options if you decide to visit any sight seeing locations or go for a hike.

For the wedding day, we recommend the ladies come with a warm cover-up (shawl/pashmina, jacket) for the ceremony as it can be much colder at the top of the mountain than at ground level. Men may also wish to bring a jacket for over their suits.

Park Passes

Happy 150th Birthday, Canada!

Most of you have probably heard, that the Canadian government is giving away free Parks Canada Discovery Passes to honour this milestone birthday year.

In order to get into any National Parks in Alberta (including Banff National Park on the wedding day or any other day), you will need one of these passes (one per vehicle).
Please visit this link to order your free pass: 2017 Parks Canada Discovery Pass

We have ordered a couple extra passes just incase someone forgets to or doesn't receive theirs in time, but we highly recommend you do so as soon as possible!
